Mercedes-Benz
Serve Like Sloan. An Interactive, virtual tennis clinic with Sloane Stephens.
Overview
About the Project
Helios Interactive worked with Mercedes-Benz and Engine Shop to create an interactive, virtual tennis clinic with Sloane Stephens, at the 2019 US Open. The custom application utilized augmented reality to bring a moment with Sloane Stephens to the masses, while enlightening guests about Mercedes’ new MBUX technology.

Clients: Mercedes-Benz
Agency: Engine Shop

My Role
I led UX design through initial research, brainstorm sessions, low-fidelity wireframing, iteration and annotations for hand-off.
The Challenge
Understanding the layout of the US Open and space we have to host our activation was complicated. We spent time brainstorming the way participants flow within the space. Acknowledging the importance of throughput but also maintaining the user-first mentality.
The Solution
By creating an experience that was led by Brand Ambassadors, but driven by users, we were able to increase throughput and ultimately satisfy and excite our guests.
Iterations
Ideation
The experience was split into two displays: Brand Ambassador (BA) display and the Main Monitor. The BA display is where the guest checks into the experience and once situated in front of the Main Monitor, the virtual tennis clinic is triggered. The main monitor is where the guest experiences the virtual clinic with Sloane Stevens and takeaway is generated.
